Kaufman Music Center kicks off its 2024-25 season with a FREE evening celebration featuring performances by our 2024-25 artists and students along with free food, drinks and fun. Audience members can enjoy festivities both outside on the street and in Merkin Hall’s lower and upper lobbies, including concerts, games for all ages, a popcorn truck and more.
Performers include four-time Grammy Award-nominated violinist/composer and Kaufman Artist-in-Residence Curtis Stewart as well as outstanding performers from Kaufman’s Lucy Moses School and Special Music School, including a jazz ensemble from Lucy Moses School’s Adult Division led by the celebrated guitarist Roni Ben-Hur and accomplished young vocalists from Kaufman’s Special Music School High School Choir.
Following the kick-off events, at 7:30 pm the Grammy-winning, genre-defying string quartet ETHEL joins forces with composer/flutist Allison Loggins-Hull in Kaufman’s Merkin Hall for a New Sounds Live co-presentation hosted by WNYC’s John Schaefer featuring new commissions from composers Migiwa “Miggy” Miyajima, Xavier Muzik, Sam Wu and 2022 Pulitzer Prize finalist Leilehua Lanzilotti.
